During the earthquake in 2015 four classrooms were destroyed at Vidhya Nikunja Higher Secondary School, Tanahun.
The village is located about 4 hours South East of Pokhara -here– and the school is a 10 minute walk from the nearest road. The village has a population of c3800 people and the main source of income for the village is from farming in the local fields. A high proportion of the villagers have family that have needed to travel aboard for work.
The school provides education to 300 students from 5-17yrs old and despite the damage to the building the classrooms are still in use due to a lack of space for the students. This project will consist of a new two-room school building providing a spacious and safe learning environment for the students. The works will also include a new water supply to ensure safe drinking water for the community along with a new toilet.
With your help we can assist this community to improve the education provision to their young people. As well as receiving a new building we will work with the school and local community to review and help improve the quality of the education provided in the school.
